About this experience

Carved into the heart of Mpumalanga's Drakensberg escarpment — Blyde River Canyon is the third largest canyon in the world and the largest green canyon on Earth. At 26km long and up to 800m deep, it is a landscape of extraordinary drama — ancient red cliffs, lush subtropical forests, thundering waterfalls, and panoramic viewpoints that stretch to the horizon.

This is also one of South Africa's most culturally rich regions — the ancestral homeland of the Bapedi (Northern Sotho) people, the territory of the Swazi kingdom, and the heartland of the Ndebele — famous for their extraordinary geometric art and painted homesteads that are unlike anything else in Africa.

This fully guided 7–14 day experience combines the full Panorama Route, God's Window, Bourke's Luck Potholes, the Three Rondavels, Lisbon and Berlin Falls, forest hikes, cultural village visits, and an optional Kruger National Park extension.

Mpumalanga and the Blyde River Canyon region is one of South Africa's most culturally layered landscapes — home to the ancient Bapedi (Northern Sotho) kingdom, the visually extraordinary Ndebele people, and the proud Swazi nation whose kingdom borders this very region. Your Daylite Digital Ambassador will connect you to all three with depth and respect.
