Jordan is the living crossroads of human civilisation. Jordan's Circassian and Chechen Muslim communities, who fled Russian imperial conquest in the 1860s and were settled by the Ottoman Sultan in Amman, add further depth to the country's extraordinary human mosaic. The Hashemite Kingdom — descended directly from the Prophet Muhammad — is one of the most politically stable and culturally open societies in the Arab world, making Jordan one of the most accessible and rewarding destinations in the Middle East.
