About This Expedition

This 14-day circuit moves from Sydney's iconic harbour and Bondi Beach north through the Gold Coast to Cairns, the Great Barrier Reef, the Daintree Rainforest, and the Whitsunday Islands. Daylite Digital secures your accommodation across this eastern Australian circuit. All activity fees, entry fees, transport costs, and tour fees are arranged independently by the traveller and paid directly to local operators.

The Eora Nation of the Sydney Basin are the traditional custodians of the harbour. The Great Barrier Reef stretches 2,300km and is the world's largest living structure — visible from space and home to 1,500 species of fish, 4,000 types of mollusc, and 240 species of birds.

The Eora Nation, Yolnu & Aboriginal Peoples · 65,000 Years of Living Culture

Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples hold the world's oldest living culture — 65,000+ years of continuous connection to Country, a concept that has no English equivalent: Country is not land you own but land that owns you, a living entity of which you are a responsible part. The Eora Nation of the Sydney Basin are the traditional custodians of the harbour.

Dreamtime creation stories are not mythology — they are a living cosmological and legal map encoding ecological knowledge, navigation routes, kinship law, and social obligation across the entire continent. The Yolnu people of Arnhem Land, who paint with cross-hatching (rarrk) patterns encoding clan identity and ancestral knowledge, successfully argued their land rights in the landmark 1971 Gove Land Rights case — the legal precedent that led to all subsequent Aboriginal land rights in Australia.
