🦍 Gorilla Permit — Important Information
Rwanda's gorilla trekking permit is one of the most significant conservation fees in the world. The revenue directly funds mountain gorilla protection — a species that has grown from 620 individuals in 2008 to over 1,000 today. This is conservation working.
per person · gorilla permit fee · NOT included in your Daylite Digital package price · payable directly to Rwanda Development Board · Daylite Digital coordinates your permit booking as part of the service
Standing face-to-face with a mountain gorilla in the mist of the Virunga volcanoes is the most powerful wildlife encounter on Earth. These are our closest relatives — sharing 98.3% of our DNA — and Rwanda's Volcanoes National Park is home to several habituated gorilla families that can be visited with a permit.
This 5-day focused expedition is designed around the gorilla trek itself — with proper acclimatisation, cultural immersion with the Banyarwanda people, a visit to the Iby'iwacu Cultural Village where Hutu, Tutsi, and Twa communities live together, and time in Kigali — one of Africa's cleanest, safest, and most organised capitals.
Rwanda is Africa's most remarkable 21st century story — from the darkest genocide in 1994 to becoming a model nation in 30 years. This experience honours both the pain and the triumph.
Rwanda is home to the Banyarwanda — a single people who share one language (Kinyarwanda), one culture, and one extraordinary story of resilience. The 1994 genocide against the Tutsi killed an estimated 800,000 people in 100 days. What followed is one of the most remarkable national rebuilding stories in human history.
