About this experience

Stand on the edge of Africa's greatest canyon — the Fish River Canyon, the second largest canyon in the world, carved over 500 million years into the ancient rock of southern Namibia. 160km long, up to 27km wide, and 550m deep — this is a landscape of staggering scale, geological wonder, and profound silence.

This is a Tier C remote wilderness experience — bush camping is essential and a 4x4 vehicle is mandatory. The canyon's remote location, zero light pollution, and extraordinary geological drama are best experienced sleeping under the stars at the canyon rim or floor.

The journey takes you through Keetmanshoop and the extraordinary Quiver Tree Forest, down to the Hobas viewpoints and the world-famous Fish River Canyon hiking trail, and south to the healing thermal waters of Ai-Ais Hot Springs at the canyon's southern end. Optional cultural encounters with the Nama people — who named Ai-Ais — and the ancient San (Bushmen) complete one of Namibia's most extraordinary journeys.

The Fish River Canyon and southern Namibia carry two of Africa's most ancient and significant cultural layers — the Nama people, who named Ai-Ais and have lived in this canyon landscape for thousands of years; and the San (Bushmen), whose ancestors walked the canyon floor and left rock art across the region tens of thousands of years ago. Your Daylite Digital Ambassador will bring both to life with full historical context and deep respect.
